Just curious -- has anyone got both the Alexa Toolbar and the Google Toolbar running concurrently on Internet Explorer? I.e., they don't interfere with one another?

I do - haven't had any problems yet. I did turn off the ad-blocker on the Alexa toolbar and just have it running on the Google toolbar.

On my machine, both Spybot and AdAware delete Alexa as a Spyware application.

I wonder if they will see this new toolbar the same way?

When I first read about Alexa it was considered a Level 1 (lowest level) "spyware" because it sends information back to Alexa like the Google Toolbar does.

I used to not use it but now feel safe enough after the research that I've done that it's not a Spyware program

    Here is a good explanation:

    http://www.spywareguide.com/product_show.php?id=418

Official Description: Alexa web search -- a new kind of search engine. With traffic rankings, user reviews and other information about sites, Alexa is a web site discovery tool. Features an Amazon shopping button on the product and anonymously aggregates surfing information. Provides clear EULA as well as opt-out instructions.

Alexa web search combines the powerful Google search engine with Alexa's comprehensive site information and puts it all inside an Amazon.com interface.
Comment: Used to transmit a indentifiying ID but no longer does this.

To make things clear people who have difficulty understanding this:

At this time, we do NOT consider this program to be a form of "spyware".

Spybot will pick it up and "fix it" automatically but you can easily change the settings so that it will ignore Alexa.
