    Alright,
I really don't want to hear people telling me "You are stupid for driving this fast." For one, it was on a closed Airport landing strip, and there was nothing there at all, so it was safe. This picture is for the people who told me I didn't know what I was talking about when I said I had the 2010 Prius at 116mph. In this picture, it was only topping out at 115mph, but at least you know it's not impossible. People in the fourms were telling me that the top speed was between 111 and 112mph. I told them what I had hit in it before and they b*tched at me saying "Nooo, nooo. That's not possible." Well, here it is. :)
    P.S.
    This is all Prius.
There was no wind, if any, it was a small breeze.
There was no downhill, or uphill. All flat ground.

I think its incredible you could get that stable a shot while the Prius was moving at 115MPH...

I had Brad take the picture, I wasn't about to take a hand off the wheel. But the car is actually very smooth at this speed. So much so, I almost feel like I could set the cruise and just ride at this speed and feel safe. If you ever get the chance to go to a track, I bet your second gen will be pretty smooth at high speeds like mine is.

Had mine to 106 mph and it was still climbing. Depends too if you have a head or tail wind, completely level or on a grade, and the DA. Under the right conditions I think 120 isn't out of the question.

Eh, I've had it up to about 95 on the highway and it was pretty jittery. Its pretty jittery anywhere north of 75 or so. The Lexus is really solid at those speeds...

    Sounds like fun!!

But your actual speed will be slower than the digital readout. If I remember correctly, it's off by about 2 mph at 60 (double check other threads) so I would expect it to be off by 3 or 4 at your speed. But still, I'm glad the car handled well and you had a good time.

Odometer add a few MPH, I think required by the law. You need to use the GPS to get the real speed.

Or have somebody radar you from the side of the road. My daughter got a little toy radar gun for Christmas, and I'll be darned the thing actually works. I'm not sure how accurate it is, though.

Yeah, can the GPS in the 2010 give you speed readouts?
    Or only like, a tomtom.

Hmm, cause it's pretty smooth here.
Were your roads in pretty good condition?

Try using a Garmin Nuvi. It is very accurate and has a information page which will show maximum speed among other things.

Have you tried that with your Gen II? The Gen III feels a lot more stable to me on the highway, especially a V like yours. The Gen II is really jittery, it doesn't have a very good center to the steering and its very susceptable to crosswinds much like an SUV.

Maybe its just what I'm used to...

The roads are pretty good around here, at least they were on that stretch of 95 I was on when I reached that speed passing a truck...

Oh and FWIW, you did that the right way. On a track or off the public roads drive as fast as you like IMHO, kudos to you for doing that there and not on the road.

It might be what your used too.
To me, my Gen II does pretty good.
I have only taken it to 107mph, but Brad told me when he got his first second gen back in 2005, he had it to 109. But I will drive sometimes at 95 - 99 cruising speeds and though if is windy, it can get whipped around a bit, but if not, it feels okay to me.

One source of folks disbelief is that you list a 2007 Prius in your Info to the left, but that is from your 2010. The 112 number is for Gen II.

No, I was talking specifically about the Gen III when they didn't believe me. Even on Facebook, I asked an expert, and they said that the top speed for the Gen III is 112. And I thought the top speed for the gen II was only 108 or 109mph. Because when I was on a flat streach, I held it to the floor and it was maintaining 107mph, and I only had 1 bar left for the battery.

Impressive! Now I'm curious what kind of gas mileage it would get at that speed on a long trip. ;)
