I have noticed lately a decidedly, shall we say, lack of "gravitas" in the threads of Fred's, which if not counteracted could instigate irreversible cognitive deterioration, conceivably to the point to which watching a rerun of "Green Acres" might start to look appealing. To rectify this inclement trend, I thought it would do well to emulate the stature and tone of most political themes being examined and get our heads around a topic with some intellectual heft for once, a topic equal both in importance and meaningfulness to most of topical political discourse - without having to actually get political. And this is a field that has seen little, if any, adequate exploration and dissection, even though it is in every dimension equivalent to any political poll found in Time or Newsweek.

The 'pi are round' thread wasn't enough for you?

Dinner plates can be square, too. :)

I voted 'beach ball', because it's round all over.

You should have said that it is possible for the plate to be round, however, many are not.

Not all donuts are round... especially my favorite glazed chocolate bar.

And beach balls that are not fully inflated are often not spherical.

But I did like your prompt and near factual response...

It depends on whether I'm expressing a personal opinion or whether I'm being paid to progress an opinion backed by my benefactor.

So I must reply to your question with two of my own:
    1) what's in it for me?
    2) what do you want it to be?

Ssshhhhhhhhh! I think that paper bag I gave you last week behind the restaurant should have contained enough "crumpled, used paper" to answer questions like that - do you really think it wise to divulge our "arrangement" out here in publ--- ahem. Oh, nothing. Nothing to see here.

None is perfectly round, but as Hyo points out, a beach ball is more round than the others.

Pi rounded is three, to one place.

The Indiana State Legislature had a bill that would have changed pi to 3.2 for the state of Indiana.

It's not a bad start, but most Hoosiers will need one less digit to make it workable.

I suppose, but you have to consider WHICH digit they'd decide to use :p

Why did they round the 1 up to a 2 when it doesn't even get to 5 until the 10,000th place and would only round the 1 up to a 2 but leave the 4?

You would be much more accurate with 3.1

    Does that help any? ;)

BTW, if you calculate your question with the SirMixaLotan Theorum you can determine that the doughnut and the dinner plate are the only possible answers because the beach ball would probably involve exercise and it is hard to make butts big on exercise but dinner plates and doughnuts can certainly serve their purpose on the matter.

Actually it's even stupider than that.

I noticed that I wasn't included as an option of the poll.

Thanks for that. There'll be a little somethin' extra in your pay envelope this week... :thumb:
