    Hello Everyone!

I'm new on the forums and I'm currently looking forward on purchasing a 2008 Prius with 81,000 miles. Before I make this purchase what are things I should look for so I don't get ripped off. The guy is asking for 8,000 USD.

    Thanks!

start with kbb.com to make sure the price is fair. find out what option package it is.

learn how to reset the trip meter, take it for a good long drive under varied conditions, and check the average mpg's she returns.

When buying a 10 year old prius, you should prepare yourself in spending $3000 for a replacement hv battery in the near future.

Are you willing to drive a 10+ year old car for $11000? Plus any other repairs it might need?

As cars age, their mechanical components still might be in good shape but the exterior will start to go south. I have a perfect 2005, 13 years old that has cosmetic issues on the car's roof. It'll only get worse from this point onward.

Although the car you are considering is a 2008, it's not that much newer than a 2005. It may have low miles to justify a higher price but it wears and ages the same as any other Prius. There may already be signs of clear coat damage (look at the spoiler) on the car. Spending $8000 seems to be an awful lot for this scenario.

That being said, I have a 2008 and I probably would want $8000 for it too LOL

    That sounds too high$$.
Prices around my area would be in the $4000--$7000 range.
You could probably get one with much higher mileage for about $5000 and still be able to keep $3000 on the side for eventual repairs.
