    Howdy.

I'm currently using Mobil 1 5w-20 in my 05. I just switched to that during the last oil change. Up until then I had been using Mobil 1 0w-30 with great results. Would really like to hear some experiences of those of you using or those of you that have tried 0w-20. Mpg change? Engine noise change? Oil consumption change? Any details you have would be much appreciated, as I am considering trying it in my 05.

    TIA!

Search around (using google, not the forum search).. I think jayman has written extensively on this.

I used Toyota-brand 0W-20 for one oil change during the winter a couple of years ago, while in southern CA. It seemed that mpg improved ~5%. However oil consumption became noticeable and the engine used 1 quart over 7,500 miles. Odometer reading was probably around 80K at that time.

I went back to 5W-30 but oil consumption has continued and is now ~0.75 qt over 7,500 miles. The car now has 97K miles.
