UNC is my adopted sports team(my brother's an alum) since my school(Rutgers) sucks at sports. Well, when you lose your entire championship team to the NBA, can't expect much this year.

F-you Duke!    :)

PS, I got this message when I tried to put up 20 angry faces:

As a lifelong Carolina fan I can honestly say my heart was prepared to lose by 20. It is much harder to watch them go up 6 from down 17 and then lose by a hair. That's the ACC for you. Oh well. My consolation is that Duke once again looks overrated.

You ARE politcally incorrect...but correct. For all intents & purposes, college sports to me means Football & Men's Basketball. The most sucessful sports program in NCAA history is...I believe...UNC Women's soccer. Something like 20 championships in 25 years. If I asked my brother if UNC had a good year, I'm guessing he'd base it entirely on how the basketball team performed.

Politically correct or incorrect has nothing to do with it. College sports means all sports. If you mean only college and football, take the time, effort and consideration to say so. There have been many contributions to the sports world made invisible by this kind of rational. Political in/correctness is conservative fundamentalist backlash terminology meant to rationalize and excuse, exclusion, privelage and meanness.

Okay, and you are pointing that out to me because I guessed that's what he meant?

Anyway, sorry to say that for a lot of fans, college athletics means Men's athletics. And I will avoid all the PC crap and just say I like men's athletics and have never watched women's NCAA athletics and don't care to ever do so.

Speak for yourself or maybe conduct a priuschat poll to get some exact numbers on this. Anyway, no need to be sorry--that's your preference. I respect your honesty in opinion instead of covering it up under "political correct"

Wow, galaxee, are you really into Blue Devil basketball? Any other sports?

Coach K is in my all-time pantheon, up there with John Wooden.

However, I must tell you that, from afar, I like Duke and UNC equally. I like Wake Forest a little more than either.

most games you'll either find me at the sports bar/friend's house with the gang (we don't have cable to watch at home)
or, if it's a game that's not as huge as duke-unc (which is 99% impossible to get in to without season tickets at cameron and 100% impossible at dean smith) i'll see if i can get in to watch in person.

the intensity of that crowd is beyond explanation. tons of fun.

and that's about the only sport i have time for! unless you include olympic napping and ultra-fast-micropipetting

Somewhat agree with you there. As far as college coaches go, I think Dean Smith and Krzysiewski are the classiest guys out there. Too bad Smith retired. When I hear Duke fans say Smith is an a-hole and UNC fans bash Coach K, almost makes me sicks. All coaches should try to be like them.

i expected this thread would come back up after last night's embarrassment.

it's like they just up and quit all through the second half! they had a nice scoring drive and had a shot at a tie to push it into OT but they #(*&ed that up pretty good with sloppy shots.

ok so we're even. 1-1 this season. now let's see how the ACC tourney goes.
