I think this story about computers might also explain the average American's obsession with impractical huge vehicles, when a smaller vehicle would be needed only 98% of the time. Walmart's $200 linux PC has tiny components that are put in a large case . The reason is that "The gPC is built using tiny components, but put inside a full-size case because research indicates that Wal-Mart shoppers are so unsophisticated they equate physical size with capability." Maybe Walmart should start selling full-size SUVs?
