After seeing the "top 10 challenge" from the Prius Team and not seeing any other threads discussing said challenge to date, I thought I'd throw out what I'd like to see (also based on what a lot of us would like on their car) in an options package:

    3-door SKS
Sunroof w/ ventilation and AC system
    Heated seats

You could call it the Convenience or Comfort Package...

Stealing Daniel's idea, a "Safety" package, with the back-up camera (rear-view mirror mounted), the LKA, dynamic cruise control, all safety features.
I'd throw in an option for cloth/non-leather seats here.

I vote for: option of sunroof without nav, just as a stand alone add on for any package

I agree with Winebuff. I don't want the navi but do want the Sunroof option
I would also love the ability to get the LED headlamps with any package

I agree. Would love the 17" wheels package with LED's and foglights and perhaps the Cruise Control feature as a stand alone from the other techno package stuff. I will be an early adopter as I am dying to get a new car and this is the one. Will have to at least see if my buddy who works for Lexus can help me out with some of the parts at his cost and install them myself once the parts are made available. The lights of course are what I'm speaking of. Will put aftermarket wheels on it just to help separate it from everyone elses. Now I just need the wheel offsets for the 17" wheels so I know what will fit.

I'd bring LED headlights into Package IV and make them less dependent on the 17" rims.

I agree with Efusco, Back-up camera, dynamic cruise control, and pre-collision system. A super safety system!!!

Instead of a Back-up camera i'd be happy enough with a beep

I believe the Idea was to come up with 10 packages, like they have now, but with different trade off decisions than they have with the current choices, then see how many are satisfied/dissatisfied with the 10 groupings. This will take some thought. I plan to work on this exercise and post it this evening.

Yea, I understand the exercise...I saw this thread as more of a brain-storming session before coming up with our individual lists.

The thing is that unless you have sonar hearing, the beep won't show you how close your rear bumper is to the car next to you. The cam shows the bumper line and allows you to get pretty close to objects.

Also, I doubt a 2 year old wandering behind your car and out of sight would understand what the beep is for anyway.

The beep is inside the car... the closer you get to what is behind you the faster it beeps. Besides, the driver should know what is behind them when backing up anyway..otherwise they shouldn't be on the road

I'm not trying to cause arguments, by the way, just stating my opinion :)

I'm only going to have the backup camera because I want a moonroof.

I think the safety package is an excellent idea. To add to that, I'd suggest a 'comfort' package and a 'sports' package. With 3 levels of options within each package, and a 'base', that gives 10.

But, what if someone wanted a combination of say, safety two and sports three? Hmm.

To repeat an old gripe, premium tires would sure be nice, even if they are an extra cost option. I'd suggest they belong in the safety package, but the sports package is more likely.

Sonar would be nice in the bumper, but as Doug mentioned - everything we add to this car affects pricing in some way. Is bumper sonar cheaper than a camera?

I don't know what "bumper sonar" is. However a rear parking sensor that provides aural feedback works well with my 2004 as a dealer-installed option. It has an intermittent beep starting when the rear bumper is around 3 feet away from an object. The speed of the beeping increases as you approach the object and becomes a solid tone when you are 1 foot away.

Here's an example of a parking sensor priced at $90 retail:
2 In-Bumper OEM Asymmetrical Ultrasonic Parking Sensor System

Certainly this would be less expensive than a camera plus a color display (aka MFD).

I'd vote for the solar roof, without navigation too. Too bad it's mandatory though.

The 2 biggest complaints I'm noticing involve:

    1. forcing the purchase of a Nav system to get the solar roof.

    2. 3 door sks not available on Pkg II and III.

If those 2 options could be unbundled and offered to all levels II - V I think Toyota would have much happier purchasers.
