I highly reccommend the TdS. It was a lot of fun. It's my hope they do more things like the autocross which, while not "fuel-efficient" activities, was a blast (even just to watch). The best part of the event, for me, was getting to meet a lot of great people and learn a lot about options for my Prius and see other hybrid/alt-fuel vehicles.

I noticed that one of the guys in your pictures is presenting how to use the Prius to provide power to your home. Is there any more info about this?

"Please check it out and let me know what you think."

Great photos and notes. Kinda nice to be able to put at least one name with a face (Hobbitt) After I spend some more time reading maybe some more will ring bells.

Thank you for sharing it with us.

Yup, as mentioned in my "live from TdS" post, see
    http://techno-fandom.org/~hobbit/cars/tds-priups/
    .
The guy doing the talk is Jim Dunn, who also supplied the '05 Prius
battery pack and saved us from the need to do open-heart surgery
on someone's actual Prius. For a while the rig was sitting in *my*
car, and I was charging the pack from my own UPS rig. Excessively
    complex, but it worked...

    Hobbit,
Have heard many many good things about you at the TdS. You made quite and impression on some people that are pretty jaded Prius/hybrid dudes. Congratulations and it makes me proud to know you're part of PC.

As someone who had the pleasure to be parked next to Hobbit at the TdS car show, let me second that. Hobbit is an excellent ambassador for the car (and I mean in every good way possible). I learned a lot just being within hearing range and the few times we had to chat were always interesting.

Being parked next was also very fortunate for me because I know so little of the technical details. Whenever someone stumped me with a question, I would just point to Hobbit.

And thanks for the kind words on the report.

    cheers!

    aww... *blush*
    .
TdS may have been wet, but back home it was *way* worse, as I
discovered upon returning Sunday evening. Kind of amazing that a
Prius can slog through 8 inches of floodwater. For a silly photo
dump and commentary on how people drive in such conditions, and to
avoid automatic indexing, go to www.avian.org and append the
    directory name "06flood/" ...

I expanded the above-referenced page a little, to include an
obligatory prius bit. put together the components
    .. www.avian.org
    .. 06flood/
.. #prius ... [you may have to re-append that after the page loads]
to jump straight to it. I think "waterpri.jpg" might be calendar
material, whatcha think? Complete with Tour de Sol sticker still
on, and has that whole "tideland" thing goin'...
