    Wow... um... yah. That's all I can say about this toy. It's amazing what's coming out these days. I got this info from a local board, apparently, these are for sale at Future Shop. Best Buy may have it too.

    That one looks a lot nicer than mine. But what does it cost? I think mine was around $135 or $140.

    [attachmentid=5623]

    Note that mine is self-contained, with the solar cells right on the car, and a bi-directional fuel cell, no need for a separate "charger." But the wheels on mine are extremely cheap and flimsey. They come off easily, and the car cannot run on carpet: it needs a smooth surface. The multi-meter gives an idea of the size.

    And natural sunlight takes forever to produce a full hydrogen charge. Best is to put it directly under a 100 w. light bulb.

    It's been a long time since I ran it. I think it took about 20 minutes or half an hour (just an inch or so from a 100 w. bulb) to fill it with hydrogen (and oxygen) and then it ran for something like 5 minutes or so.

    It's $120 (on sale for $100 at Futureshop).

    Looks pretty cool. Not sure what its functions are exactly.

    Just imagine how fast and how far something like this would run if it had... BATTERIES instead of the FC. Of course then it would only cost $15. What's the fun in that? You wouldn't be able to "see" clean energy in action. :)

    What would be the fun in a battery-operated toy car? Battery-operated toy cars are a dime a dozen. This thing is a toy! But it also serves a very useful purpose: It demonstrates clearly, not by argument or calculation, but by its physical existence and operation, that fuel cells are completely impractical for any but extreme applications. It takes so long to charge, and is so underpowered compared to a battery car of the same weight, that this little toy is the best argument available today against trying to build full-size fuel-cell cars.

    Well golly, a battery powered weed-trimmer is so underpowered and takes so long to charge when compared to a gas powered weed-trimmer. Therefore battery powered cars can't possibly work.

    That's different than mine. I hope it works better than mine.

    Only if you buy the wrong one. I've used a battery trimmer for three years now, and would never consider going back to the $300 gas trimmer that I had before.

    Takes long to charge? I've got a WEEK between uses to charge the thing, and it only takes a few hours. Now a Fuel Cell trimmer - THAT would be awesome. NOT.
