Toyota 0W-20 is a Mobil brand

    Just in case you didn't know. :) It isn't Mobil 1 but a Toyota-designed formula specific to their hybrids.

    If somebody is a member of PriusChat and I want to inform the members of new knowledge I discovered (Mobil makes Toyota synthoil), why would I post on some other website where they are Not members?!?!?

    That would be akin to me wanting to talk to facebook users of a recent change, but instead I go post on livejournal. (Makes no sense.) My turn: Why do I have to justify my post? I suspect you're real motive here is to ring me through an interrogation, in the hopes you will intimidate me into silence.

    I dont think its news and hasnt been for a very long time here. There are alot of discussions in other threads on this fine web site about Mobil1 and Toyota motor oil, if you care to search. No interrogation and no intimidation, but your tin foil hat is getting old. :p

    hi all

    Walmart synthetic oil was made by Mobil, I wish they sell 0w20, but they do not, if they do I would use walmart synthetic, it is cheaper.

    A "jug" of Mobil 1 0w-20 costs about $20. That comes to a little over $4/quart. If I cannot find 0W in a jug, then I run 5W. There's no real difference.

    Maybe . The first jug of Toyota 0-20 I bought in 2010 was from a Japanese co with an oil blending / bottling plant in the US. Later jugs of Toyota 0-20 are in the same unique jug design used for all Mobil 1 motor oils, just a different color plastic jug with a different label on it, so yeah, Maybe. :)

    Last I heard Warren Performance Products made it for Wally World.

    The thing with Brand-X oils, including Toyota, they can easily switch suppliers based on cost, performance, personal connections etc.

    I remember looking at a bottle of the Toyota 0w-20 synthetic and it had Idemitsu as the supplier. They also supply the oil for Subaru.

    Toyota 0w-20 used to be made by a Japanese supplier, but about two years ago they switched to Mobil. I'm running an oil analysis on it now, and I'll see if there's any difference from Mobil 1 and Toyota oil.
