I'm not sure how this one evaded us (I searched and found zero threads "FT-86" on PriusChat forums) but at the Tokyo autoshow (October 2009 - about a month and a half ago), Toyota revealed a much more finished, production-looking version of the FT-86 "concept" sportscar, except in the new form it no longer resembles a concept and much more resembles a production car. Rumors are that it will be released to the market sometime in 2010, as a 2011 model.

I sure hope Toyota decides to make this in a hybrid form!!!

Looks a lot like a Datsun Z car.

Is that the one that Toyota and Subaru are building together?

Yes, sir. Other articles allude to the Subaru version of this vehicle.

Agree, or maybe a little closer to an older model Infiniti coupe. What's Toyota thinking? If you're going to copy sports car styling - why not copy Euro (or UK) styling instead? Granted, some of us are fans of the new mean look of USA sport coupes - especially the new Camaro.

I like it the way it is (in these photos). I love the front end - excellent!

I like it too. Very clean lines and sporty looking without going overboard. If that were a hybrid, I would consider it as a replacement for my '05 Prius. Oh, and so long as it does not come in at $50K.

Agree. Good front-end with some unique styling. From the rear, looks like everyone else (from Japan). Granted, maybe that was what Toyota was shooting for.
