I'm interested in a Toyota hybrid because of the capability of running the A/C while parked in Ready mode. The radiator fans (and/or A/C condenser fans) cycle on and off. In a few videos I found on YouTube, there seems to be a big difference in the fan noise between the Highlander Hybrid and the Prius. Is it just me, or does the Highlander fan noise seem obnoxiously going up and down in pitch in a siren-like manner, where as the Prius just sounds like a gentle steady whoosh of white noise?

Does it really seem strange that a medium sized SUV has a larger compressor and fans than a compact car? Its cooling twice the cabin space and a much larger power plant.

Just because the components need to be larger and more powerful, it doesn't mean they need to make obnoxious noises. Anyway, does your RAV4 make this noise too?
