    A great day and race for hybrids! Did anyone watch the in-car footage of the two Toyotas? They just kept lapping everyone in their way.

    I would post a link but am not allowed...

    With Audi and (soon) Porsche going over to Formula E, Toyota is pretty much racing against itself in LMP1.

    A win is a win. Hybrid Technology will remain strong in the future car market and apparently there is no real competition in this segment not in motorsport and not in road cars :p

    BEVs may gain faster and may have even more market share in future but IMO convetional powertrains will drop off a cliff and hybrids will be also gaining in sales for quite some time in the future. The only diference is that Toyota has like 80% of the hybrid market, but on the BEV side there is a tough competition.

    The problem is most hybrids are poor acceleration and handling machines. In contrast, Tesla makes fun cars to drive. What a contrast, exciting Toyota hybrids on the track versus wimps on the road.

    Agree, but the hybrid drivetrain has the potential for more power, at least as short surges, it's just the Toyota problem they are not exploiting that. But we are getting improvements with every generation, slowly but surely :D

    At some point the power is good enough and for majority of people 8s to 60 mph is good enough, not enough? Spend more money on a Tesla, it's a free market. :p

    • "chill" mode -> "8s to 60 mph" (my default mode)
    • "standard" mode -> 5.5s to 60 mph
