Toyota plant suspends Prius production after fire

    TOKYO (AFX) - Toyota Motor Corp said one of its plants in central Japan has been forced to halt production of the Prius hybrid and other popular vehicles for at least a week after a fire damaged an assembly line.

    Toyota Auto Body normally assembles about 1,000 finished vehicles a day at the Fujimatsu Factory, about one-quarter of which are Prius gas-electric hybrids.

    Maybe prices will go down just a tad on any damaged Prius? Fire sale?

    LOL, this thread title is a bit misleading. I thought that actual Prius were catching on fire on the road from some manufacturing error and they had to stop production. Whew.

    Actually, that's too bad, setting them back at least 2000 Prii this year just as the '06s hit the dealerships.

    Oh those sneak Asians! Another complex plot to drive up MSRP and waiting lists on new Prius, and keep values high on used Prius.
