    I don't know if that article is a repost though there are other plug-in versions that have previously been discussed.

    Personally I think that for Toyota to produce a Lithium based battery in the Prius it would have to result in double the efficiency without any increases in the price.

    If they managed a Prius III with 90mpg it would appeal to many more than it currently appeals to. However if that 90mpg only came after plugging in the vehicle that would complicate things a bit for the general public.

    As far as the article goes, it's a bit of a reach to claim that the new Prius won't have lithium battery because of a manufacturer defect on V8 camshafts...
