    In case anyone else wonders why this vehicle looks like the front end of a Crown grafted onto an SUV, it's supposed to.

    That would replace our BMW i3-REx but so too would an Estima, the hybrid minivan that Toyota has limited to the Japanese market for as long as we've owned Prius. Make it a plug-in and voila, a Pacifica challenger.

    The functionality, loading from the side with sliding door is the feature needed. So a spectrum of minivan sizes makes a lot of sense.

    Yes, but minivans only succeed as big in the US; the Mazda5 did not last. Toyota's hybrid minivans are bigger than that Mazda, but still noticably smaller than the 4 minivans still available here.
