Toyota has agreed to add Sirius to its cars! Now lets see if the Toyota branded tuner works with the Prius! I bet it will. As some have noted here Sirius is listed as a recognized device by the Prius audio system.

One would have to think that if the Sirius system works in the Solara that it would work in the Prius since the Solara XM system is the one that integrates into the Prius. Gotta wonder why they didn't list it as one of the models though.

I just can't understand why Toyota doesn't offer the XM kit as an accessory for the Prius though either...what marketing benefit could there be to that. You're talking a generally highly tech savvy group that would love to have XM as a dealer installed option. I just don't see why they haven't done that.

Interesting news. I wonder if they are dropping their contract with XM, or using both like Alpine.

Just to add, I'll pay the first month of service for anyone that signs up for Sirius through me. PriusChat is a part of the Sirius referral program.

The only thing that I can think of is that Toyota just hasn't tested the XM/Sirius tuner with the Prius, so they are hesitant to list it as supported. As to why they haven't done so is a mystery. Perhaps Toyota USA has underestimated the market and/or hasn't communicated well with corpate Toyota about the Sat. radio solutions. Remember this is an option that only cars in the USA/Canada have so perhaps Toyota Corprate has just been a bit slow with this whole issue.
