    Its not that they don't want to be number one, they are afraid of the extra scrutiny that GM has dealt with for decades.

    no idea. I frankly couldn't care less if they're no. 1 or not. All I care is that they maintain their quality and reliability. A big company is going to be hard to manage especially if it's growing at the rate Toyota is growing at the moment. It's going to be hard to keep up and eventually things will start deteriorating as workers cut corners to keep up the rate of production or Toyota falls victim to Ghosnism (haha.. my own word) which is to focus so much on reducing cost that they've reduced quality and reliability.

    Maybe GM is buying Chrysler so that they can keep their #1 spot, without having to be bothered with improving their product.

    I wouldn't even mind if Toyota's quality went up.

    I've been hearing about how great it is for all these years. Now I have one and I'm not really impressed by the workmanship and the details.

    So far, no huge failures, but I've only had the thing a year.

    It's just a car... I'm not impressed.
