Prime 2017-2023 with factory TPMS. Prime has so many controls in the Instrument Cluster. But when it comes to TPMS I was surprised it only has TPMS initialize button and orange warning LED (aka mad jelly fish). Initialize button sets up threshold based on factory assumptions what the threshold should be and you cannot set it up yourself. You also do not see what the individual tyre pressure and temperature is. Weird. Monitoring TPMS is built in feature in many modern makes and models. Not in Prime. Of course I can connect Techstream and see what pressure is or connect simple cheap gauge. Techstream does not even tell which TPMS sensor and which serial number is which wheel (FR, FL, RR, RL) But when the data its already there - wouldn't it be nice just to have it without those extra efforts? So, it was that heavy storm and pouring rain when my mad jelly fish showed her angry face. I had zero intention to get out of the car to check which wheel was loosing air. That finally triggered some R&D and resulted in 2 outcomes: I've made an OBD dongle which removes TPMS warning light and I've made a wireless TPMS monitor where I can set up warning threshold myself. No need to connect to the OBD, just wireless monitoring of pressure and temperature with individual serial numbers of the TPMS sensors. Happy days.
