I have a 2013 Prius. When (at what mileage) should we change the transmission oil / fluid? Thanks

You can follow the maintenance guide that came with the car, or if you prefer change it more frequently. There are various opinions in this forum on how often to do this. First change before 30K, then again at 100K is one school of thought.

Its cheap to do it yourself, and about $120 at a dealer.

I would recommend first change around the one year mark, or 10K miles. Yeah, no kidding. I've done several changes, and the first, around that time and miles, was by far the darkest.

After that, you can stretch it. Next at maybe 5 years or 50K miles? Then every subsequent 10 years or 100K miles?

It's very easy.......highly recommend..... need funnel with 3' rubber hose connected that will fit in the top hole of the trani.... I actually have a plastic reducer in the end of the hose....and it fits in the trani as the hose is to big...... funnel goes on left side of the engine under the hood about even with the top of the valve cover..... reinstall lower hex bolt tight....then add fluid till it runs out the top hole...make sure care is level.....I let it down and fill with 4 quarts...that will make it run out the top.... then you can jack it back up and finish.... I lift the left (passenger side) with my motorcycle jack.....

You could just have the car raised and level, for the whole process.

I would not get under a car just hydraulically supported. I go further: even with safety stands, I also push a tree trunk section under first, roughly 14" dia by 14" long. And take my cell phone lol.

There's four good safety stand locations, alternates to the scissor jack points (which suck). I would think the v is very similar to the 3rd gen; here's what I'm using:

Raise the front, install jack stands, raise the rear, two more jack stands. Now the car is raised and level. Good for tire rotations too.
