I was about to purchase a TRD rear sway bar kit part # PTR11-52091 made for 2008 Scion xB but as I did more research I also found a TRD rear sway kit made specifically for 2010-2011 Prius part # PTR11-47010.

But I could not any info on the TRD 2011 catlog for part # PTR11-47010?

So my question is which kit is the correct kit and what are the difference between these 2 kits beside one kit is made for a xB ?

That question has come up before with no answer IIRC.

I think you will need to call TRD to get an answer. Be sure to ask them the diameters of the two bars and if links are included.

the xB kit has end links and 47010 doesn't. you will have ~1" more clearance (not that it would matter anyways where it is).

previously released xB bars PTR11-52080 and PTR11-52090 had no links and were replaced with PTR11-52091 to alleviate issue with breakage. PTR11-47010 bar ends are of different design, which looks stronger. Cannot comment on how thick they are, but at 22.5mm xB bar is slightly oversized as Prius OEM front is 24mm and xB front is 26mm, 38% stiffer.

I had just gotten off the phone with TRD, apparently part# PTR11-47010 is only avaiable to those whom have a Prius Plus package and they will need your VIN to verify. But in 2012, TRD will began to sell Prius Plus parts to the general public without the VIN.

By the way part PTR11-47010 is only the bar with no mounting accessories or brackets also I could not get the diameter of the bar, the representative could not find out. I'm sure it's same exact bar as the Prius Plus, anyone knows the diameter of the Prius Plus rear sway bar ?

    Well aren't they special.

A few other sources are advertising the bar for sale so you don't have to buy it directly from TRD. A lack of mounting hardware would be a problem though.

I had talked to TRD and juiced hybrid both cannot sell the part without a VIN.

If mounting hardware is the problem could we just use the hardware from the xB sway bar kit ?

Anyways, I am wondering the diameters of the Prius Plus model vs the TRD xB kit.

Just FYI for everyone, if you get the Prius specific TRD/Plus Pkg rear sway bar, you will need to order the hardware kit, part #PTR11-47011 for the end links and the bolts. Unfortunately it costs around $50. :p

i have the older bar scion xD TRD bar, one without the endlinks, and it has been successful for the last year already. The reason why they stopped selling that model was because of the wrong information in the directs. The directions gave the installer the incorrect method of re-installing the bolts. When installed backwards, as directed in the instructions, the bolt will loosen and the bar will fall off. Hence, the halt in the reproduction of that model, and introducing a newer model with endlinks.

Both models of the TRD sway bar will work great, just make sure to install the bolt correctly.

Correction: This bar DOES come with the hardware kit. The end links, brackets and bolts are included, despite what Toyota says.

I just received mine and installed it tonight.

I purchased it from a local dealership. The bar is just a white version of the xB one but I can post some pictures later.

Thanks for the pic. It looks like you got the sway bar for the 2008 Scion XB no? That part number is PTR11-47010.

Did they update the catalog to include the 2010-up Prius for that number?

PTR11-47010 is for the 2010+ Prius ONLY. The xB's bar is a different part number (it is also a different color).

After a little more searching it is:

2008 Scion XB rear sway bar in red (with end links) # PTR11-52091
    &
2010-up Prius rear sway bar in white (with end links) # PTR11-47010

Was the only thing different between them the color?

I believe it is just color. But I have not seen the other bar so I am not sure. Someone said the shape is slightly different but I am not certain.

My advice is to buy the correct bar to avoid the warranty issues.

How much did you pay for it? I just called my local Toyota dealership and was told $362.70.

Wow that's outrageous. I paid $242+tax. Check juicedhybrid.

If you really get stuck I could probably buy one and ship one for less lol

I called around to other dealerships in the area and lowest I got was $279.00. Not the best but sure beats $362.70.

$279 is MSRP. Print out a price online and have them match it. That's what I did.
