    REPLY:
The 2001-2003 Prius would let you open the trunk from the driver's
seat, and there is a CoastalETech mod that'll let you open the trunk
from the remote. However, I haven't seen a similar button for the rear
hatch door on the 2004+ Prius.

Does anyone on this forum know of trunk popping options for the 2G?

Thanks! That's great news! Who can I get to install the kit? Should I approach the dealership? or try to find Joe mechanic? or got to Best Buy and bribe the car stereo installers?

All coastal'stuff is easy to install by you, the end purchaser. If it looks too complicated once you get the part and instructions any stereo installer can do it for you.

I see a potential problem with the hatch popper. What would push the hatch up to clear the latch?

Hatchback vehicles with a dash or remote release button usually have some kind of spring loaded pad which places some upward force on the hatch so that the latch clears the receiver. I don't see that with the Prius. In fact, if I pull the latch release and do not provide any upward force on the latch the latch is still locked in the safety position and I have to pull on the release again.

Hence we need to go the full monty and include a power-operating hatch :D Although that'll probably require some gears and motors somewhere near the hinges
