Trying to polish out scratches.. but they keep coming back?

    So I bought a DA 6" polisher from harbor freight along with cutting and polishing pads

    I have some micro scratches that were caused by a scuff pad in a sponge

    I hit it with maguiers ultra-cut and then polishing compound and it took all the scratches off

    Then boom they're back like a day later...

    Was my cutting compound not aggressive enough? What'd I do wrong?

    Happen to have any pictures worth sharing?

    After cutting and polishing, did you fill or coat the surface with anything?

    There may be others on PC who have more experience, but pinging @The Critic for additional input would be my first go to in this situation.

    No didn't use any wax

    You'll need to wax to protect the paint. It's very vulnerable after you polish it. Keep in mind every time you polish you're cutting off a thin layer of paint. Waxing it will protect the paint and prevent scratches because it's an extra layer. Plus, the car looks great in the rain and is really easy to clan when waxed.

    If some of these scratches won't come out with polishing will they come out of you wet sand them and then polish?
