From the Google Translation of one of the linked articles (TV-Report 2012: Die Gewinner und Verlierer - autobild.de), I'm not surprised about the Dacia Logan doing poorly. It's a cheap car. I posted about the Logan at http://priuschat.com/forums/other-cars/31922-tata-introduce-2-500-car-2.html#post425687 before.

Must be a much tougher inspection than what I used to go thru when I lived up north. They would check all my lights, tires, brakes, signals, wheel alignment, wiper blades, muffler emissions, all in about 10-15 minutes. There is no vehicle inspection currently here in Florida

In CA and WA, there's no concept of a periodic "state inspection" other than an emissions test. In CA, Priuses, at last check, are still exempt.
