#2 is one of those things that doesn't do anything. The other doesn't look like it would either.

An easy way to save money is to not get them. :)

    Hi All,

Ebay Item #2 might (but has not been shown too) theoretically help if the car had carborateur. The induced air swirl might help scour the intake manifold and keep it dry of gas. The big problem with manifolds with carborateur cars is that as the air goes around corners, the gas can condense out in the low air pressure areas. This is just like water vapor off the back of a wing of a high performance fighter. Gas then plates out on inside walls of the manifold, and the car runs too lean, and detonates. Back in the day there was a WHOLE industry of retrofit manifold makers to address this problem. As this problem was also a main source of air-polution (beside low engine warm up power), the EPA rules forced all cars to fuel injection (thank God!). With fuel injection beyond the manifold, like almost all modern light vehicles have, tests of these things show no effect.

Ebay Item #1 looks like a hacked in 12 vdc electrical cabinet cooling blower. I doubt it has the power to provide much effect. Not that the concept could some day provide effective. But, to do that the motor power will need to be significant, and an 12 v 100 watt brush motor, with your basic stamped metal impeller rotory blower is just not going to do it.

One needs a 3 or 4 hp (2 to 3 KW) brushless DC motor, and some air pumping technology that I do not have the background to recommend. Depending on duty cycle, the motor could be the size of what is shown (think LARGE electric model airplane motors here) or 10 times the size. This also means the motor is going to have to run off the hybrid battery as the the 12 VDC Prius supply is only rated to 1.2 KW and allot of that 1.2 Kw is used for the other electrical stuff in the car.

One way this might be done is to use the AC compressor power tap to supply the super charger motor.

    Hi Pinto Girl,

Was saving that one up for when somebody would ask about those Ebay superchargers. You Like?

The other option is the scuba tank super-charger...

...and don't forget the snoid-charger (powered by those little refills of nitrous oxide, used with whipping cream dispensers)...

Problem is, the employees at all the local cooking stores are beginning to ask too many questions...
