"Mr Bush, who famously vowed to keep US forces in Iraq even if he was supported only by his wife, Laura, and dog, Barney."

I think even Barney probably wants out now.

10-19-05 (<=Yesterday), GWB: "If you want to be a Democrat these days you can be for almost anything, but victory in Iraq is not an option."

I guess it's not an option for Republicans either.

Wouldn't matter. Bush established years ago that he only takes the advice he wants to hear. Anyone in the Bush government that publicy disagrees with him, does so at their own peril. Retired General Eric Shinseki and ex-ambassador Joseph Wilson found that out the hard way.

Barney would likely soon be an entré on some Third World family's dinner table were he to tell the Chimp something he didn't want to hear.

There you go. It even looks like Bush is saying, "See? That's what happens to dogs that disagree with my Iraq policy".

Could also be the reason we haven't heard or seen anything about Jenna and Not-Jenna for awhile, too...

So this is the dreaded "October Surprise:"

    Bush Makes a Rational Statement!

    Stop the freakin' presses!

Oh, that Karl Rove is so devious. Who'd have thought of this?

Democrats have lost the only thing we have to run on, "The Party of Cut and Run."

They steal everything we hold dear!

Wasn't he giving his all to become the lead ace fighter pilot with the Texas ANG? Or did I read that wrong?

    From Wikipedia:

"Bush attended Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts, and, following in his father's footsteps, was accepted into Yale University, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in history in 1968. At the same time, he worked in various Republican campaigns, including his father's 1964 and 1970 Senate campaigns in Texas. As a college senior, Bush became a member of the secretive Skull and Bones society. By his own characterization, Bush was an average student.

In May 1968, at the height of the ongoing Vietnam War, Bush was accepted into the Texas Air National Guard. After training, he was assigned to duty in Houston, flying Convair F-102s out of Ellington Air Force Base. Throughout his political career, Bush has been criticized over his induction and period of service. Critics allege that Bush was favorably treated due to his father's political standing, and that he was irregular in attendance. Bush took a transfer to the Alabama Air National Guard in 1972 to work on a Republican senate campaign, and in 1974 he obtained permission to end his six-year service obligation six months early to attend Harvard Business School, receiving an honorable discharge.
    "

The sixties is probably when Bush first crossed paths with Karl Rove who during this time was a Barry Goldwater 'Young Republican' (you know, one of those "Extremism in the pursuit of liberty is no vice" college guys). Rove was also honing his Republican dirty tricks skills with the likes of Lee Atwater and Donald Segretti around this time, as well.

Since the Neocons have no stomach to 'war' correctly, giving it all for a win, YES we should immediately get out, redeploying troops to surrounding US bases and remain at the ready to go back in WHEN THERE IS A PLAN TO WIN. Simultaneously, those who started the debacle should all be immediately JAILED including junior, rumsfeld and cheny as well as others. They should be sent to Gitmo and merged with the general population. Their family fortunes should be stripped and put toward the national debt.

Yes, we should change our stradegy about fighting the war. Stop being the nice guy. Change the rules of engagement for our troops. And kill them all. Why do we have to be a nice guy when they're NOT?

I agree in a sense. Our current strategy does not seem to be providing the results we are hoping to achieve. That being said the enemy is smart and they know about our election cycles and are playing to it in an attempt to influence them. For better or worse, the media and the dnc are aiding this effort similar to the Tet offensive in 1968.

We need to adjust our style to afford our troops the best chances of victory - if it means fighting a dirty war - than so be it. We cannot hold ourselves to a standard to which the enemy will not hold themselves.

That's exactly what I meant... hopefully everyone agrees and we can have this war warp up in no time.
