I have put my key fob in the slot upside down and now I can't get it out? Anybody know how to get it out?

It shouldn't matter if its upside down or not.

Make sure the car is off, and mebbie push it in a bit and then push it out just incase the locking clips are a bit stuck.

My fob fits either way, there is no upside down and the only time it can be taken out of the slot is when the car is turned off. I am not aware of any changes in the 2007 that would only allow the fob to only go in one way.

Umm.. it shouldn't matter if it's upside down or not.

Plus if you couldn't get it out, what are you doing here on your computer lol. Unless your neighbourhood's safe and you don't mind leaving your key in the car.

Yeah, it wasn't until about a week into ownership that I actually put the key fob in and I too couldn't get it out.... then I realized I hadn't shut the power off. :) As others have said, make sure the vehicle is off.

I appreciate all the quick responses, however apparently they have made a change in 07 because it says in the owners manual (read to late) DO NOT PUT IN WRONG WAY. The power is off, car in park, and it will not come out?????

Yeah, it's in my garage in a safe neighborhood, tomorrow I have to go to work though. I guess I can lock it with my key in the lock the old fashioned way?

Yes you can lock it with the mechanical key.

I assume you've tried pushing and pulling right? Hmm...this one is a puzzler.

NEVER MIND, Got to thinking the owners manual saying not to put it in the wrong way, meant backwards, not upside down but the picture in the manual shows it buttons down and I had buttons up so I assumed I had it wrong? Anyway went back to the car and tried again and it came right out, don't know why I was having problems before? Thanks for the replys.

Have only had the car for three days and so far am loving it!

Strange, the '08 it doesn't matter. I purposely put mine in both ways and it works exactly the same.

this reminds me of one time I drove my wife's car. I pulled into a parking space, pulled the parking brake, and turned the car off, but the key wouldn't come out. So I went inside, I go back out later to go back home and what do you know the car wont start either now, next thing you know I break the key off in the ignition, then I just realized I was a stupid idiot, I was so used to driving my car which was a manual transmission that I never put the transmission in park. GRRRR....

Back in the olden days we had two Chevy Vegas, one stick (mine) and one automagic (wifes). I drove hers into the driveway, parked and hopped out to run inside, and looked back and the car was rolling down the driveway. I left the dcar in drive, and just shut off the key, but didn't pull it out. Used to driving my stick shift. Stupid things happen.

My DH puts the fob in "upside down" all the time. in our 2007 Prius. No problem.

Turn OFF the car, and pull it straight out.
