US Says Only 1/4 of Spilled Oil Left in the Gulf (maybe)

    My chief worry with this good news is that some (not on PC) will take this as evidence that the Gulf worries were overblown. That actual story is that a very, very large army and navy of oil cleanup efforts really did a good job.

    True. Much of that "job" was the huge dose of dispersants. The environmental affects of which are not well publicized or understood.

    I think another major cause of the disappearance has been biological degradation of the oil, which is occurring at a much greater rate than Exxon Valdez due to the significant difference in water temperature.
