I am from Spain. Last week I bought a 2005 Prius package #6.
I will be in the US until summer 06 and then I am planning to take my Prius to Spain.
At least those were my thoughts until I found all the problems I will have to face.
1.- Although Prius is backed by same type of waranty (3/8 yrs) Europcare does not honor my Us warranty.
2.- I'll have to change the front and rear light assemblies
3.- My navigation system is the US map

I have time to make my final decision but I wantto start investigating.
The lights problem can be solved a relatively low cost.
The warranty issue is a question of accepting a risk.

    Now my question.

the dealer told me that I can by the European map in Spain and have it installed.
Does anyone know if ot is that easy?
Is the navigation system in Europe the same and only the DVD are different?
If the answer to the above is yes? Is it an operation that one can do (swap a DVD), or does it require technical work?

    Thanks

You can swap the DVD in a minute or so. I dont know if the navi is otherwise the same.

Maybe you can find someone in Spain who can send you a copy of the DVD to try????

Try the Prius Europe groupe on Yahoo.

Front and rear lamp assemblies a low cost? I do not know about that one.

In a year and a half, any and all the bugs should be worked out of the car by then, so I suppose it might be worth the risk to lose the warranty.

Otherwise, sell the car and get another in Spain.
