Thinkin bout getting some 17 VR Super Eco's but not sure if it's worth doing so since the reason why I got the Prius in the first place is to get my MPG. Anyone riding 17's or 16's? Was the impact to MPG worth the increase in the looks department?

The Volks, even the 17's, are lighter than the stock 15's. If you go with a lightweight 16/17 LRR tire, I don't think you'll see much of a decrease in your mileage, or if there is a hit, it'll be minimal.
I ran Scion tc 17s rims and tires (quite a heavy combination) for a while and saw roughly 4-6 MPG loss. The 17s did increase handling and stability (less wandering and tramlining at highway speeds).

I agree with HI MPG on the Scion TCs. I have them on right now with General Exclaim UHP (13lbs per tire, I think?) and I'm consistently getting 42-46 (click the link in my sig).

3-5 MPG is worth it IMO for better handling. I feel safer on the freeway.

I am thinking of getting some Volks as well as soon as I burn thru my stock tires. Anyone know where you can get a good deal on them? I am leaning towards the CE28 in a 17".

Thanks for the feeback guys, this thread reminds me of the "floating" feeling the car exibits when making slight corrections on the freeways at 65+mph. Gonna save up a bit n get the 17's since I agree an increase in handling performance is worth the 3-5mpg sacrifice.

Send me a PM, I know of a few Volk/Rays dealers who are carrying these.

The 17's will cure most of that floating feeling you describe and steering input feel will be dramatically increased. If you're used to low profile tires then the added road noise and bumpiness won't bother you.

As long as you choose a good low rolling resistance tire then the MPG hit should be minimal and I would wager less than 2mpg depending on the width of the new tire. Unless you plan on autocrossing the car on a regular basis I would skip the high performance tires. They will KILL your MPG and the car is not set up to really push a great performance tire anyway. :)

I'd recommend that you call around because of USD/JPY currency fluctuations. Get some vendors off of evom, nasioc, and maybe nicoclub and give them a call - they usually quote you a lower price over the phone.

Those Ray's Super Eco's look super nice... but i do not know about that 17x7 +50 offset. Seems really conservative to me. I like my wheels a little more flush to the fender rather than sitting far into the wheel well.

Anyone got side profile pictures so i can see how they sit against the fender.

    Super nice!

but a fender roll (not pull), slightly stretched tires, and some wheel spacers and it will be perfect.

    18x7.5 +47 or 18x8 +44?

    thx man!

these are 18x7.5 +47. currently, the rear tire just barely clears so i can put it all the way down while the fronts rest on the liner. ill probably roll with a new wheel setup, more VIPish with some stretch.

i'm currently averaging 38-39 mpg with my 18" volks and 235 series tires. looking to get new tires soon though. hopefully they will get me over the 40mpg hump in my car.
