Why are brand new VWs always in such short supply in North America? Seem like a problem that has been going on for a long, long time?

Can't speak to their gasoline models but they are opening an EV factory in Chattanooga, TN very soon (should be a few months now) and that'll produce the ID.4 for local consumption. This should shorten the wait time significantly.
