    Yeah, I saw the news about that recently. Thanks for posting.

    Maybe VW fanboys will simmer down a bit with their hybrid bashing that they sometimes engage (and diesel praise) in now that they'll have 2 hybrids.

    I would love to see this car throw down 44mpg city and highway AND priced similar to their TDi package. While I've made friends on their site, some of those diesel fans are fanatic in thinking diesel is the end all be all of fuel efficiency.

    Especially the economics. Diesel fuel is expensive. But a hybrid has a more expensive up-front cost.

    I doubt a hybrid would stop the diesel weasels. They'll just dismiss it. Not their thing.

    I hope it works well (and has better backing than Honda gives to the HCH). The target would, I expect, be comparable pricing to the TDI so they can offer different vehicles to different kinds of drivers.

    I know VW have been working on hybrids for a long time. I remember reading about a diesel-electric Polo in the mid 90s.
