Stock version of the C30, but electric. 80 miles per charge.

    Nice! :D

But is an 80 mile range a bit low? I mean, Nissans Leaf has a 100 mile range and even the elusive Volt can go 50 miles on electric and those figures are under ideal conditions, so a real world range is probably about two thirds.

Not impressed Volvo. You've got to get 100 miles or more to a charge.

Yeah. The range may be a little low as projected, but this is not written in stone just yet. The nice thing here is that this is essentially the same C30 that runs on an ICE engine, yet carries an electric drive train instead. There tend to be a lot of weight compromises being engineered into electric vehicles in order to maximize range- sometimes at the expense of better crash results. Volvo has always prided themselves on crash tests. This is just a continuation of that pitch.

It just seems like "one foot on the brake and one on the gas". Come on Volvo, use the switch to EV as a change in vehicle design also. Let efficiency be your next hallmark.
