Volvo Trucks to introduce all-electric Class 8 trucks in North America – TheTrucker.com
"As part of an innovative partnership between the Volvo Group, California’s South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD), and industry leaders in transportation and electrical charging infrastructure, Volvo Trucks will introduce all-electric Class 8 truck demonstrators in California next year, and commercialize them in North America in 2020.
    ...
The demonstration units will be based on the technology currently being used in the Volvo FE Electric, which Volvo Trucks presented in May and will begin selling in Europe in 2019."

Class 8 trucks are your classic semis, so Tesla will have competition in that market, hopefully.

It is headquartered on Torslanda in Gothenburg and is a subsidiary of Chinese automotive company Geely. ... Volvo Cars has been majority owned since 2010 by the Geely Holding Group, a Chinese multinational automotive manufacturing company.

Lucid is coming next year, just luxury cars, real luxury.

Some info on the smaller trucks:
Volvo Trucks introduces its first electric truck for commercial use; sales and production start next year - Green Car Congress
Volvo Trucks presents second electric truck model in three weeks: Volvo FE Electric - Green Car Congress
Shouldn't you be asking when the $35k Model 3 will be coming out?:p

There are some testers of those smaller trucks out now in Europe, and those are suppose to be for sale next year.

From the second article, "Two different charging systems are available: CCS2 with maximum charge power of 150 kW DC, and a low power charging option with maximum charge power of 22 kW AC. From empty to fully charged batteries (with the 300 kWh pack) will take approximately 1.5 hours with the high-power CCS2 charger, and approximately 10 hours with the 22 kW low power option." These are local use trucks, with range to match. The semi should have larger packs.

Interesting side note, the FE has a two speed transmission.

I could see that working out for stuff like dairy logistics. They're doing fairly short range daily routes based from locations that already have major electrical infrastructure for production equipment & refrigeration.

It'll be funny to see one pulling a diesel-powered reefer box though...

Sad to say the ratio of EV press releases to sold EV vehicles remains 10 to 1 ... or +100 to 1 for VW. Only Tesla and BMW and few others are better than the desirable 1 to 10 or less.

Some of the others is coming along. Since Volvo is now Chinese owned, I put more weight in their EV announcements.
