VSC light is staying on

    So the other day I was rotating my tires in my driveway, Once I was finished I took it for a test drive and about 2 minutes into the drive the traction control light (yellow light upper left hand corner) came on and has been on ever since. I haven't noticed anything else different while driving except the light remains on and that the "hill start assist" isn't working so I assume the traction control isn't working. I have tried pulling a code with a scan gauge but no codes where present and I also tried to reseting the battery by unplugging the ground cable for 10 minutes but no luck. I appreciate any suggestions

    You've got me confused. Your profile says 2004 Prius yet you posted in a Gen 3 area.

    There's no hill start assist on Gen 2, but there is on Gen 3.

    You can pull codes by jumpering pins 4 and 13 on the DLC. See attached.

    I do not own a scan gauge, I just had the guys at autozone try to pull the codes and nothing came up on their tool

    I don't feel like heading out to the garage to grab my manual, but isn't there some sort of tire pressure sensor that needs to be reset when the tires are rotated? Maybe look into that.

    Just had the same problem with my 2011. After being at the dealer for 2 days and the area service tech review they found that a cable that runs up the A pillar on the drivers side was stretched to tight and causing a short in a connector that blew a fuse in the engine bay. First thought was mouse damage then a sensor in the steering column that controls the air bags. They also found that each time a door was opened the fuse would blow.

    I hope you have better luck than I did. Two days to find problem.

    Do you know which fuse was blowing maybe that blown fuse is causing my problem

    Right, it will flash each warning lamp in sequence. They are two digit codes. Like ABS 45 would be the ABS light flashing 4 times, short pause, 5 times, longer pause, then either the next ABS code, or the next lamp (VSC).

    I have always wanted to buy a scan gauge, so I finally ordered on from amazon considering my VSC light is still on. Once it arrives I will follow SIELERTS instructions and try to see what code it reads and I will post my findings

    If it's still under warranty, take it to the dealer.

    Otherwise, buy the Mangoose interface for Toyota Techstream. It will become invaluable to you once the car gets older.

    So my scan gauge pulled three codes
    p0143
    p0196
    p0234
    Any ideas what caused this and also tried clearing the codes but the scan gauge continues to read them and my VSC light is still on

    Umm...I suggested jumpering the DLC to get codes. ScanGauge will not read Chassis or Body codes. None of those codes shows up as valid DTCs.

    I know see what you mean, you just use a wire by itself and jump the two. But still not to sure what you mean by how you interpret the blinks. I briefly tried jumping them and then powering on the car and it seemed like all the dashboard lights were blinking and not sure which ones I should be counting???

    Thank you Seilerts!!
    I finally got around to following you tip by using the jumper wire. It turned out to be throwing a code to do with alignment (must of happened when the car was of the ground for the tire rotation) and I reset the code by pumping the brakes and that did the trick NO MORE VSC LIGHT!!!!. Everything seems to be working just fine and I made sure skid control is still working by checking the hill assist.
