The 2006 Prius comes with a backup camera. What exactly are you looking for?

I didn't explain cause my connection to the server timed out. Only the heading appeared, but the explanation didn't make it through....

I have a 2006 Prius. In South Africa the reverse camera was never an option. I would very much like to retrofit one. The questions I have are:

    1. Will it affect my warranty if I install components?
    2. Where do I find/purchase a suitable camera that'll work with my MFD and NAV unit?

    Thanks

I have backup camera installed myself for around $400 (cost of parts).
I forgot about the parts (Video interface and CCD camera) I used.
But, you may start from here.

G-Net is a pretty good unit, I heard. With it, you may also have a DVD player connected to it since any video interface unit
can probably take at least two video sources with separate triggering wires.
I currently connect one triggering wire to backup light, and the corresponding video source from a CCD camera
placed under the hatch garnish piece.
    See my installation pics here.

All these work only if you have a NAVI unit (you said so in your post).

Thanks for the info, ceric. I'll check it out. The 2006 has a high-res MFD vs the 2005s' low-res MFD. I understand the 2006 MFD does not accept analog video. Does anyone have more info on this?

Some local warehouse clubs in the US ( Costco, BJ's) have been selling back-up cameras with their own display for around $80.00 to $100.00. I don't remember the name of the company. If I see one, I'll make a note of the Manufacturer and send you the info.

Is your location anywhere near Port Owen?

ebay. No I'm serious. Check Greenhybrid.com and go over to the Camry Hybrid forums. A few members there have added an Eclipse backup camera (forgot the model no.).
