My daughter was driving our prius, and she said while driving at 35 MPH, all the dash lights came on and the car died. Towed it to the shop and after a couple days they said it was the power cell. They said they could get a new battery from the Toyota dealership for $2500, and $3200 out the door.
I read on here that my battery might have a warranty of 10 year/150,000 mile. I am the second owner.
    Need help.
    Thanks,
    Jay

It might, have you ran the VIN online or at a dealership?

The $700 install is a little excessive, curious what their posted shop rate is and if they're tacking on hazard pay or not.

Pretty sure WA is a 8/100 state.

I believe that WA became a CARB state sometime after 2007 so your car may only have 8 yrs/100,000 mi warranty.

However, if you have been a loyal Toyota customer who has had their car serviced at a Toyota dealer, you may be able to appeal to Toyota Corporate for a goodwill warranty assistance. This may give you anything from a discount to full cover.

    Toyota Owners Official Web Site

Create an account then add your car's VIN.

if you can't get goodwill help, shop around dealers, pricing is not fixed, but $3,200. is probably average.
also, you can get a rebuilt battery for less, but they are iffy, and it depends on how long you want to keep the car, and how much aggravation you want to put up with.

Yes to the above. If you are planning on spending around $3200 (on a new battery) look into having it replaced at a dealer who offers a three (3) year warranty, whereas the local mechanic might only offer you one (1) year for the same cost.

Another option is taking one for the team o_O and getting a NEW battery from Toyota Prius Hybrid Battery | Bumblebee Batteries for $2400 (Portland no tax!!, local pickup or $125 shipping which includes core return) and have your current mechanic install or look for a less expensive installation option (there must one, maybe try a Bumblebee authorized partner service center by calling 1-888-968-5005 or Contact - Bumblebee Batteries ).

You would get a three (3) warranty on the above NEW battery, and potentially save money while supporting a quality small business (y)
