They are passing this link around at the TivoCommunity chatrooms. I enjoyed it, maybe you will too...

The Nkhoro Stream seems to be pretty active place from what I can tell. I am having a little trouble with the feed at the moment, but there are antelope hanging around. The Tau and Leopard cameras were active too.

Thanks. There was a webcam at a Botswana watering hole as well. There I saw elephants hanging around... it was pretty cool.

What a neat idea. They should use this as virtual tourism and get money from advertising, etc., to draw supplemental revenues making the native people less inclined to resort to poaching and their destruction of rainforests, savannah, etc.

It is getting dark as the sun sets, there is not much to see, but listen to the sounds at the NkHora!

There's a place in Kenya whose name I remember as merely "Mountain Lodge," though perhaps it has a longer formal name. Unlike the safari camps that take you out on game drives every day, Mountain Lodge is built next to a watering hole, and every room has a picture window or balcony facing it. (The balconies are better, in my opinion.) There is also a tunnel that comes out into a sort of bunker with heavily-barred open windows at ground level extremely close to the watering hole. From there you are closer to the animals than you can ever get on game drive, and you can hear, as well as see them. We all know that elephants trumpet. But I can report that they rumble as well, and they burble.

Some animals are very common, and others are rare. The lodge asks you for a list of the animals you want to be awakened for, and if one of these appears during the night, they will wake you up for it.

Sure beats a web cam. But it costs more. If I had a girlfriend I would take her there.
