I sympathize with you, as I am too tall (and fat) in the torso to fit through the doors of most cars. (If you cut my head off, I would still not fit in a Matrix, my shoulders hit the door frame) As it happens the Prius is OK for my needs, but I certainly have to shop to find that one model in ten that I fit inside. (My wife's company car, a Nissan Xterra, is very frustrating as you can see they lowered the roofline over the front seats to prevent easy access)



I hope your search yields you a car you find comfortable.

 

the camry is like a towncar compared to the prius. i love drivinmy wifes hycam but i like my 60 mpg more! still happy with the 08.
but isn't the 09 without steering column adjustment worse than the 10?

 

I am excited to see you justifying your 2009 Prius...more power to you. For someone to rent SIX 2010 Prius, i see that you're trying really hard to justify your 2009 Prius.

 

It seems that you spend an aweful lot of energy repeating yourself...and justifying yourself. I think that we all get the point...you don't like the 2010 seat/steering wheel configuration.

With all the seating mods to your 2009 (listed in signature), why on earth are you even trying SIX 2010 Priuses??! Isn't that similar to taking a big dump into your financial toilet? If the V model was bad, then why keep trying 2010 models?? Did you expect the IV or III or II to be any different?? SIX 2010 models to come to this thread?

Doesn't the Camry come in Hybrid form?

 

There are cars that I've hit my head on trying to get in, Jetta and Insight. I only do such experiments once. Bummer about the vehicle fit but I understand the problem of wrong size.

The Marines issued me 10 1/2 size D boots. So the next pair I got were 11 1/2 D boots. It took 10 years until I found out my shoe size was 10 1/2 EEE.

6-2, all is fine for me

 

This was the first thing I noticed about the prius, the telescopic adjustment in the steering wheel is far too short. My previous car, a Mk4 Ford Mondeo had about 4" of adjustment. A colleague at work has just got a new Toyota Avensis and that is the same as the Prius, just 1.5" of telescopic movement.
I have managed to find a compromise by bringing the seat forward some and I must say that the seat itself is far more comfortable than the Mondeo's.
I find steering wheel itself obscures the start button and the light switch, wipers and indicator stalks though which was very annoying initially until I learned which was which.
