I am buying a 2007 Prius and the engine compartment is really quite dirty. I frequently wash the engines and the compartments at the local coin operated high pressure car wash but I am hesitant to do this with my new (to me) Prius because……… we’ll just because.

What is the best way to do this without doing something that I may regret?

Thank you all for sharing your wisdom and knowledge.

    Happy weekend!

i think you're smart not to, although some claim to have done successfully ( @NutzAboutBolts you tube i think?)
if it were me, i would just use rags and preferred cleaning agent.

there have been horror stories of gunk engine cleaner and garden hoses, or car wash wands

Dry Ice blasting is proving to be the most superior method in recent years. Of course most of us don't want to spend near $100K on the gear. So instead just use spray cleaner and a diverse array of detail brushes and clean one small section at a time till you eventually get everything clean.
