... if you read between the lines

    new iPods soon
second version of the iPhone to be 3G compatible
new applications planned for the iPhone
iPhone will be successful because of the software, not the hardware
OSX apps will probably appear in some variety on the iPhone at some point
hi-def video formats will come to iTunes in the future
    YouTube on your apple TV!
no over-the-air purchases for your iPhone, it's too costly - however when asked point blank all he could say was "we have nothing to announce today"
3rd party apps will be allowed on the iPhone... as soon as Apple gets their security concerns dealt with.

My health is materially improved by my iPod, I must say. I've been a jogger since my late teens, and with each iteration of improvement, portable music players have kept me moving, and frankly have helped me not to join the ranks of the obese in this country.

So I say long live the iPod, and while it isn't "necessary," you really are meaning "frivolous" I think, which ain't fair, Pinto.

Now, the iTv, I agree, that's superfluous. And the iPhone looks cool, and yes I covet one, but it's too expensive and I already have a cell phone.
