What? No adjustable lumbar support on basic package?

Just picked up my PIP (basic package). Yay!
I was disappointed to find that:

    1) No adjustable lumbar (like in the advanced package)
    2) All 3 seat adjustments are manual.

Hopefully the driver seat has been improved over my crappy 2006 Prius seat.

I am SO very glad that the standard trim gets the heated seats! That is fantastic for me (in Minnesota). It won't be enough to keep me warm on the coldest of winter days but it might be all I need on chilly spring and fall mornings.

I couldn't care less about adjustable seats...

that's why options should be a la carte! but, i did read thru both models before making my decision so i don't think there will be any surprises.

I hope the seats are at least improved over my 2006 model seats.
My long commute takes a toll on my back.

Another feature I will miss, is the build-in garage door opener in the mirror (no only available on the Advanced). Now I have a cheapo looking basic mirror that reminds me of my '96 Jetta.
Also, they seem to gone with lighter weight plastics for the interior. For example, the glove compartment door felt like it would not withstand any abuse at all.

You can have the rear view mirror replaced or you can do it yourself. There is a thread in the Accessories forum, complete with the Toyota installation instructions. You can buy a new Gentex home link mirror for about $150-170 (or more if you want some other fancy features). You can also find used ones on eBay.

    Here's the installation document:

Wasn't this the guy who ordered without negotiating a price, and asking if he should expect to pay MSRP? In business, I believe it is called "due diligence."

Strange. You have to remove the Battery Cable to replace the Rear View Mirror?

Isn't there a fuse you can just remove?

Aawwwhh c'mon Dianne, you KNOW some of the accessory packaging is weird. After going to great length to talk my car pool partner's wife into buying the 2012 hyCam (over the new Fusion), I was almost embarrased when she discovered NO lights on the sun shade vanity mirrors. And why is that? Because even though you've ordered the "top-of-the-line" hyCam, it doesn't include the 2 light bulbs (and their covers) unless you pony up for the $1,000+ sun roof.

Oh yea, when it comes to weird accessory arrangements, we're DEFINITELY gona need a whole LOT more cheese & crackers. We'd have been your 1st PiP customer but for strange packaging coupled with limited colors. We WILL definately get down your way soon enough for a buy, because our list of 'included's' will soon get offered up.

    btw, make mine Shiraz thankyouverymuch.
    ;)

Well lets see, the install requires splicing into two 12v wires with a wire-tap, and pliers. Those wires will be "hot" without disconnecting the battery, so there is the possibility of shorting out portions of the electrical system. Pulling fuses for the circuits involved isn't practical. It still leaves hot 12v on one side of the open CB slot.
Plus, Alot of the folks that might attempt this install can't even change a light bulb.

    9G-Man,

Pulling the Fuse should open the battery + and the wire circuit then continues to the battery - which is chassis ground.

Just like turning off your house power panel breaker to an outlet or light and the wire circuit continues to house neutral which is earth ground.

Yep, that's me. I ended up paying MSRP just like I did for my 2006 Prius.
