See what it comes out to with tax after buying the oil, filter etc for do it yourself oil change. I had mine done at Toyota 2 weeks ago and with the 5 quarts synthetic 0W20 filter and everything else with was $51 with tax. I thought it would be more, but it was only $10 more than I could have done it myself... Having them do it for that price may be worth it to many people.

I would do it myself even if it cost a few dollars more.

Some people are just that way.

I had all intentions of doing it myself but I was in the area of the dealership and decided to just have them do it. I was pleasantly shocked at the relatively low price for having them do it. Plus I, like many I'm sure, have difficulty making the time to do it myself...

Good timing. Just yesterday, I stocked up.

    Element Kit (04152-YZZA6) = $5.15

    Plug Gasket (90430-12028) = $2.09

Also, don't forget about the oil-change document for the 2010.

Did you buy these locally? The price for a filter at the dealer is about $10 here.

Yup. I just happened to swing by the dealer (Burnsville, MN) when they were having a special.

Thank you the great and informative document!

    Just FYI,
The JP maintenance manual recommends following step when we remove the filter cap.

    - Loosen the filter cap four turns, then locate the index rib(*2 on the following picture) at the top or bottom for oil draining from the cap.

Is the purpose of this so the oil doesn't drain all over the place. How would that help if *2 is on top?

If I remember correctly there is a rib that will cause the oil to stick to and drain from the rib as opposed to running from one side then the other. Not real important, just neater, less mess. I believe there are two ribs, 180 deg from each other
Of course I have been wrong before.

You are correct, there are two drain slots as shown in Ken's drawing (*2), they seem to do the job and most of the oil comes out of the cap when you locate one of them at the bottom. As it says, the cap needs to be loosened 4 turns before it can drain.

We can see the drain slot on the screw thread of the cap from the John's document page-12.

Got my filter from 'One Stop Auto'

You need to go to a full service auto parts store (NAPA / etc) - they needed to look it up on there computer and get me the filter.

The o-ring is included with the filter (you may want to verfiy)

Check you my Standard work - step by step change procedure including pictures if you are interested.

Also - I use Mobile 1 ..... second to none for overall performance and results.

I hope this helps - Bill

(wrenches - 64mm for the filter and 17 mm for the oil pan)
