I haven't been able to drive my Prius for a few months due to a health condition. I started it a couple of times but just tried to start it and the lights are dim and it won't start, of course I think it is a battery issue but there is a humming sound under the hood near the fuse box area that will not stop. I am concerned about it overheating or something. Help?

welcome to priuschat! i would replace the 12 volt battery and go from there. if you don't want to spend the money unless absolutely necessary, you can test the battery and if it's low, try charging it and see how it tests out after that. (be careful charging, these batteries don't accept much amperage.) or you could try a jumpstart, do not cross the connections. all the best!(y)
