What's this part?

    I was doing an oil change and when I opened the service flap this part fell out. It looks to me like it's a piece of the heat shield or an exhaust part or bracket but I couldn't find anything that matches it when I looked at the parts diagrams. It's a 2011 model.     That is (was) a bit of heat shield from somewhere on the exhaust system. It likely doesn't show up as a seperate part because it used to be welded to whatever it shielded. Short form, if you don't have any tinny rattle noises from the exhaust then don't worry about it and get on with life.

    long form, if it is a heat shield, it might be dangerous not having it installed
