Wheel offset question

    I have a standard Prius 3 with 15" wheels and I'm shopping aftermarket wheels. I'll probably go with 15" again. I don't understand what changing the wheel offset would do.
    I think my stock Prius wheels are +45 offset. If I purchase wheels with +35 offset will the wheels stick out more? I don't want that, I prefer to have them under the car like stock. I cannot find info on what changing the offset would look like. Any help would be appreciated.

    :)Wheel offset is stamped on the inside of the wheel. You can check the TireRack.com for 15" Prius wheels and most will have the factory offset.
