As im waiting for this unusual rainy ( 4 days in a row) southern california weather to subside so that i can put my car on the road, i've considered purchasing a tire and wheel package from tire rack. My question for those of you whose gone the route of upgrading to a 17" wheel is, what did you do about your sensor readings? My car is a 2010 pkg III. Thanks Mike.

This reminds me somewhat of Honda's "anti-theft" security code on their radios. In a nutshell: any time the radio loses power, a code has to be entered for the radio to function. The design purpose for this is to prevent theft. Google the subject: the overwhelming preponderance of discussion on the subject is from legitimate owners thwarted from listening to their own radios, having lost the code.

I believe the Tire Pressure Monitor system is manditory, due to legislation. Again, if you Google the subject: almost all discussion is how to fix the damn things. Their cost rivals the cost of rims, and then there is an additional expense for having the dealership initialize them, or outlay for equipment to do it yourself.

We got snow tires within a week of purchase, on separate rims. I didn't bother with TPM's. Now there's a little light on our dash. I can live with that.

It's kind of funny: everytime we roll into the garage I think the car detects the stack-o-summer-tires (with the TPM's), and shuts off the warning. Then when we drive off it starts up again, LOL. I heard about one guy that put his TPM's in a pressurized cylinder in his trunk, fwiw.
