When did the factory backup/rear view camera come standard/option for Prius? 2010?

I am getting my first 'new' car in 16 years! I only had Acura before, and my family has Acuras but I think a Prius 3 would fit me best now.

I say Prius 3 because I saw that the 2013 model comes with a backup camera. However, I want to also look at used Prius, although there are not many out there. The ads are confusing and I can't figure out if the rear view camera was standard on certain models?

So which year did Toyota start putting the backup cameras on the Prius 3 (4? 5?) as either standard or a factory installed option? I can't tell if a 2010/2011 Prius 3 "should" have a backup camera?

(I am only interested in a factory installed model of camera, not previous owner upgrades.)

I'm used to using back up cameras in the Acuras and LOVE it for my situations. I really would like this option on the Prius and this will be one of the determining factors as to whether I buy new or used, what model level, etc.

I would like to stay between the years 2009-2013. (For the year 2013, clearly the Prius 3 is the best option for me, no solar panels/fan option. Just basic.)

And if anyone wants to shout out any Prius buying tips or direct me to a great article, I would SO welcome it. Thank you! Thank you!

My 2011 Three has the 7" navigation system and that includes a backup camera.

I think all of the 2012 and 2013 have a backup camera included in the display audio.

For 2012, it's standard with the 6.1" Display Audio System (and of course carries on with the 7" Premium HDD nav with green/yellow/red markers)

For 2010/2011, you have to look for those with a navigation system. Non-nav models in the US have no backup camera.

For the 10 and 11 model years, if it has navigation (factory) it has a backup camera.

It is same for 2012 models. Only 2012 models with Nav have the backup camera as standard equipment. I have a 2012 prius 2 with 6.1 display without nav and it does not have a backup camera. However, I am told it is "wired" for one, except for the piece in the tailgate. So all I really need to do is add the camera and that last piece of wire and it should be good to go.

I don't think so. MY2010 had the backup camera bundled in the nav option package available on the III, IV, & V. The I would have been a fleet vehicle. I don't know whether or not it was available.

    Yep.

Toyota Vehicles : Toyota Announces Prices for 2010 Prius / Toyota may help as well. 2011 model year option trim levels were unchanged. but Toyota changed to spelling out the numbers instead of using Roman numerals.

The trim levels and included equipment changed a lot starting w/the '12 model year.

Well I pretty much knew the outcome but I checked the VIN# 2010 Prius 1, Blue Ribbon Blue with Bluetooth, Navi and XM and factory iPod connection in center console.
