When should first oil change be?

    I called the dealership and they said the free maintenance only covers oil changes every 10k miles but if I wanted to do it sooner at like 5k, I would just pay for it.

    Should the first oil change be at 5k or just wait until the 10k service?

    You should be posting in the Gen3 area as all Gen2 Prii are specked to have oil changes every 5k miles. I would do a first change at 5k miles to get the break-in crud out of the system, but I did an early change in my 2004 at 2k miles so I guess I a conservative old guy.

    i did mine at 10k, but i don't keep cars for more than a hundred thousand or so.
